CLAN MOD PROTOCOL FAQ

GENERAL QUESTIONS:

What is it?
It's a protocol that allows you to join Clan Mod servers by simply entering their IP and PORT into your web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera ...)

What commands are available?
clanmod:// or clanmod://start - Start Clan Mod without joining a server. Automatic login will still be used.
clanmod://config - Change the settings of the Clan Mod Protocol (auto login + default parameters)
clanmod://IP:PORT/ * - Join the server with that IP and PORT.
clanmod://IP:PORT/PASSWORD/ * - Same as above but for passworded server. Sadly, a BF2142 bug sometimes gives you a network error the first time you try to join a server with password though.

How do I use it?
Just type one of the above commands into your address bar in the browser and then hit enter. You can also click "Play Now" or "Join this server now" on a server in the Clan Mod Server list.

Where do I download it?
If you installed Clan Mod 3.0 -> 3.02 incremental, you can download it from the main page. If you installed Clan Mod v 3.02 full, you already have it installed. If you're unsure - try to visit clanmod://config . If nothing happens, download it.

What are default parameters?
This is an advanced setting to allow you to for example run Clan Mod in windowed mode or with a special resolution. If you don't know what this is, just click Ok when this dialog pops up. The default value should work fine.

Is there a list of Clan Mod servers?
Yes! You can click the name of a server for more details and server history. You'll also find "Play Now" and "Join this server now" links which will start Clan Mod and join the server in question using the CM Protocol. You can find the lists here: Public servers | Private servers | All servers

TROUBLESHOOTING:

Clan Mod starts, but no server is joined
If this happens although you used the clanmod://IP:PORT * command or clicked "Play Now" on a server in the list, there's something wrong with the BF2142 login info you entered. Use http://profile.ea.com to find out what username and password you have and then correct the information using clanmod://config. Please note that all fields are case sensitive! (password is not the same thing as PassWorD).

When I download a Clan Mod client file or the CM Protocol, I get a trojan horse warning
Some anti-virus programs seem to think that the CM Protocol contains a trjoan horse. This is of course not the case, it's simply a false warning by your anti-virus program. Consider changing to a better anti-virus program that only alerts you when there's really a threat, such as Avast! (free!), http://www.avast.com
