BF2142 Clan Mod

Clan Mod Protocol released + 3.02 full
Today we have released a new client side addon for you to try out! It is called the Clan Mod Protocol and it allows you to join servers simply by typing their IP and port into your web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera ...). You can also send a direct link to your server to friends and foes! Together with this new protocol, a new desktop shortcut is included. It's more advanced than the previous one, which you can now delete as it won't work anymore.

How to get the CM Protocol to work:
1. Download and install from the right side of the main page.
2. Visit clanmod://config. Follow the instructions.
3. You're done! Either enter a server manually (clanmod://IP:PORT/) or
click Play Now on a server in the Clan Mod server list.

We're also releasing the full, non-incremental version 3.02 of Clan Mod for client and windows server today. The client version includes the CM protocol and the new desktop shortcut. A linux server version will be available within a few days. (Update July 12th: full 3.02 linux server version now available.) Note that if you already have 3.02 installed, there's no reason to download these files.

Big thanks to all the CM Protocol testers! Thanks to you it's now properly tested on Windows XP and Vista.

And just because of that it seems EA's master server is feeling sick again... One player reported that he couldn't sign in the normal way to BF2142, but that it worked when he used the CM Protocol though. Smile

Trojan horse?

Some antivirus programs seem to be alerting you when installing the CM Protocol. The reason for this is probably that the installer has to add a value to the Windows registry in order for you to be able to use the clanmod:// protocol.

Rest assure there's no trojan in the official installer, available at the main site ( http://www.BF2142.se/clanmod/ ).

Btw, a good (and free!) antivirus program (that only alerts you for REAL threats Smile

) is Avast!
